A paper cup passes on two points: it holds liquid without leaking, and the rim doesn't chafe the mouth. Behind both lies the craftsmanship of three processes — die-cutting, sealing and curling.

The Scenario: Three Process Gates of Cup Forming

A paper cup is made from body stock (a fan-shaped blank) and bottom stock, through die-cutting, forming, sealing and curling. Die-cutting decides blank dimensional accuracy, sealing decides whether the bottom leaks, and curling decides whether the rim is smooth or scratches the mouth.

The Pain Points: Leaks, Uneven Curls and Dimensional Drift

Insufficient die-cutting accuracy makes blank dimensions drift, causing an out-of-round mouth and a skewed body; a loose bottom seal leaks with hot drinks; poor curling leaves a rough, burred rim that can even burn the hand. These are the common quality ailments of paper cup machines.

The Solution: Optimize Each of the Three Processes

1. Die-cutting accuracy. Use high-precision dies with sharp edges and replace them on schedule; hold blank dimensional tolerance within ±0.1mm to keep body and bottom in precise alignment.

2. Bottom sealing. Match heat-seal temperature, pressure and time to paper basis weight and coating thickness; the seal line must be complete with no gaps. Inspect sealing molds for wear regularly to prevent leaks.

3. Rim curling. Dial in the curl wheel's curvature, pressure and speed so the rim rolls into a full, rounded edge — adding mouth strength while keeping drinking comfortable and leak-free.

The Result: Leak-Proof Sealing, Flat Rims
