3. Record the settings per format Every format has documented parameters: heater zone temperatures, glue temperature and pattern, forming pressure, line speed. 4. Gate on the first article, defined in advance Define the first-article acceptance: cup diameter, height, seam strength (peel test), bottom seal, and print registration. Run test cups until the gate passes, then log the count. A defined gate makes quality consistent across shifts and operators.
5. Track changeover time per format Log each changeover against a target per format (e.g., 20 minutes for standard sizes, 35 for specialty). Formats that consistently run over target get investigated - usually a tooling problem or a missing kit item, not an operator problem.
