Why does bottom sealing pressure matter more than temperature?

What pressure specification should a buyer request?

Specify the force the die actually receives per cavity rather than the supply-line figure, the parallelism tolerance across the die, the force repeatability across a shift, and the dwell setting with its range. Ask for the evidence behind each: a measured force reading, a parallelism map, a hot force re-measurement and a cycle timing chart. A gauge on the supply line does not show what the die receives, and a force figure without a measurement method cannot be verified at acceptance or after service.

How should leak testing be designed for acceptance?

Run the machine on the buyer's own bowl stock at target speed and leak-test a defined sample from each hour of a full shift rather than a short burst, because a short test validates the machine's best moment and misses thermal drift. Define the test precisely, including pressure, hold time, sample size and sampling point, so both parties mean the same thing by a pass. Keep the shift-long record with the machine file as the baseline for later comparison.

When should sealing force be re-checked after service?

After any intervention that can disturb the sealing stroke: a die change, a guide or bushing replacement, a platen adjustment or a gearbox service. The reason is that the reference condition includes the machine's temperature, so a force reading taken cold is not comparable with the commissioning record. Re-measure hot, compare against the baseline, and record the result, which turns a recurring argument about cause into a routine comparison against a known condition.
